Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane is on a two-day visit to Leh. General Naravane visited forward and tactically important posts in Eastern Ladakh region yesterday.
“The situation along LAC is slightly tense. Keeping in view the situation, we have taken precautionary deployment for our own safety and security, so that our security and integrity remain safeguarded,” the Army Chief said.
He said the situation has been tense for the last 2-3 months, but they have been continuously engaging with China both at the military and diplomatic levels to resolve the dispute. “These engagements are ongoing and will continue in the future also,” Gen Naravane said.
During his visit, the Army Chief held a comprehensive review of the situation and interaction with the commanders at ground zero in forward location and at Fire and Fury Headquarters.
Army Chief’s visit to Leh, review of the ground situation and operational preparedness would be influencing the future talks in Chushul or else where between India and China to de-escalate the tensions in eastern Ladakh. General MM Naravane will be returning to Delhi later today.
