KDMC Doctors Assault Row: Shrikant Shinde Condemns Attack, Says ‘No One Will Be Spared’; Shiv Sena Promises Action

Kalyan MP and doctor Shrikant Shinde has strongly condemned the alleged assault on doctors and medical staff at KDMC’s Shastrinagar Hospital, assuring that both legal and disciplinary action will be taken against those responsible. The incident, which triggered widespread outrage after a video surfaced on social media, allegedly involved a Shiv Sena corporator assaulting two doctors inside the municipal hospital, raising fresh concerns over the safety of healthcare workers.

In a statement posted on X, Shrikant Shinde said, “The assault on doctors and medical staff at Shastri Nagar Hospital of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) is highly condemnable. As a doctor myself, I know that patient care is not merely a job but a service to humanity. In extremely adverse and stressful conditions, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers labour day and night in the service of the public. No one who takes the law into their own hands will be spared. Strict action will be taken against the guilty as per the law. The party’s stance on this matter is also clear. The party will not support any individual involved in this attack. Strict disciplinary action will also be taken within the party against those found guilty. As a public representative and a doctor, I stand firmly with all doctors, nurses, and medical staff at KDMC Hospital. We must all respect their safety, dignity, and right to provide service fearlessly.”

Reacting to the controversy, Maharashtra Minister Bharatsheth Gogawale said the incident should not have occurred and that Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde would take an appropriate decision after reviewing the matter. “Yes, we saw it. Our leader will take a decision on it. They will determine what happened, how it happened, and why it was done. It should not have been done. That is true. Our leader (Eknath Shinde) will take action on it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Minister Pankaj Bhoyar said the police have already received a complaint and are examining every aspect of the incident. “A complaint has been received in this matter, and the police are conducting an inquiry accordingly. The circumstances under which the public representative was involved in the incident will also be examined. The situation leading to the incident will be assessed as well,” he said.

The controversy intensified after a video of the alleged assault went viral on social media, purportedly showing the corporator physically attacking doctors inside the hospital. Police have launched an investigation into the incident, which has reignited concerns over the safety and security of doctors, nurses and other frontline healthcare workers in public hospitals.
