Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced the squads for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England, the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, and India A’s multi-day matches in Sri Lanka following a meeting of the Men’s Selection Committee at the BCCI headquarters.
Shreyas Iyer has been entrusted with the captaincy for both the Ireland and England T20I series as well as the Asian Games campaign. Tilak Varma has been named vice-captain, while wicketkeepers Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan have retained their places in all three squads.
The squads for the Ireland and England T20I series are identical, featuring a blend of experienced campaigners and emerging talents. Abhishek Sharma, Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh are among those selected. Youngsters Prince Yadav and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi have also earned places in the T20I squads.

For the Asian Games, India have largely retained the same core group but made a significant addition in pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who is set to strengthen the bowling attack for the continental event. Prince Yadav, however, misses out on the Asian Games squad.
The selectors also named the India A squad for two multi-day matches in Sri Lanka. Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel will lead the side, with Devdutt Padikkal serving as vice-captain. The squad includes promising performers such as Sai Sudharsan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Harsh Dubey, Saransh Jain, Gurnoor Brar, Auqib Nabi, Yash Thakur and Anshul Kamboj.
In another significant development, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been named as a replacement for the injured Virat Kohli in India’s ODI squad for the upcoming series against Afghanistan.
The selection meeting was followed by a press conference addressed by Men’s Selection Committee chairman Ajit Agarkar and BCCI honorary secretary Devajit Saikia.
