“Sharing Army Secrets With ISI Is No Patriotism”: Punjab Police Arrest Tarn Taran Man in Espionage Case

Tarn Taran: In a major breakthrough against cross-border espionage, the Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested a man identified as Gagandeep Singh for allegedly leaking classified Indian Army movement details to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) during the recent Operation Sindoor.

The arrest was made in a joint operation led by Tarn Taran Police and Counter-Intelligence Punjab. Singh, a resident of Mohalla Rodupur in Tarn Taran, was allegedly in constant contact with Pakistan-based pro-Khalistan leader Gopal Singh Chawla and over 20 Pakistani intelligence handlers.

“Acting swiftly on information received from Counter-Intelligence-Punjab, @TarnTaranPolice, in a joint operation arrests Gagandeep Singh @ Gagan, a resident of Mohalla Rodupur, Gali Nazar Singh Wali, #TarnTaran. Arrested accused had been in contact with the #Pakistan #ISI and Gopal Singh Chawla, sharing sensitive information concerning army movements during #OperationSindhoor,” Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav posted on X.

Authorities have seized a mobile device from Singh’s possession, containing incriminating intelligence files and communication with Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs). The material reportedly includes maps, deployment locations, and other military logistics linked to Operation Sindoor.

According to DGP Yadav, the probe has revealed a deep-rooted espionage network. Singh had been in touch with Chawla for nearly five years and was gradually introduced to ISI handlers via encrypted platforms. Payments were allegedly made to Singh through Indian-based financial channels, raising concerns over local facilitators.
