Delhi: BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Sunday strongly endorsed RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s recent remarks on freedom fighter Veer Savarkar, saying his contribution to the nation transcends all formal honours, including the Bharat Ratna.
Reacting to Bhagwat’s statement, Ranaut said the sentiment expressed by the RSS chief reflected the collective emotions of the country. “What Mohan Bhagwat ji said is what every Indian feels in their heart. Veer Savarkar’s sacrifice and ideas cannot be measured by awards,” she said.
However, Ranaut added that conferring the country’s highest civilian honour on Savarkar would still carry immense symbolic value. “He stands far above the Bharat Ratna. But if such an honour is given to him, it will be a moment of pride for every citizen of India,” she remarked.
The BJP MP described Savarkar as a towering figure in India’s freedom struggle whose role has often been debated but cannot be erased from history. According to Ranaut, acknowledging his legacy is not about politics but about recognising national sacrifice. “Savarkar gave his life, his freedom and his future for the nation. That truth does not change with time,” she said.
