“Multi-Crore Scam in Ram Temple Land Deals?” AAP’s Sanjay Singh Submits 11 Property Transaction Documents to SIT

The political battle over land transactions linked to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya intensified on Thursday after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh submitted documents related to 11 land deals to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the matter.

Claiming that the records reveal major irregularities in land purchases connected to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Singh alleged that several properties were bought from local owners at comparatively low prices and later sold to the trust at significantly higher rates.

After submitting the documents, Singh took to social media and accused those involved of carrying out a “multi-crore scam” in the name of acquiring land for the Ram Temple project. He said all available evidence had been handed over to investigators and remarked that only “Lord Ram knows” what action would now be taken.

According to the documents cited by the AAP leader, multiple land transactions allegedly witnessed dramatic price increases within a short period before being purchased by the trust. Singh claimed that some of the deals involved common witnesses, including individuals associated with the BJP and the temple trust.

One of the transactions highlighted by Singh relates to a land parcel that was reportedly purchased for nearly ₹5 crore and later acquired by the trust for around ₹8 crore. Another property allegedly bought for ₹2 crore was subsequently sold to the trust for ₹18.5 crore, raising questions about the sharp jump in valuation.

The AAP MP also pointed to transactions allegedly involving relatives of political figures. According to his claims, one piece of land purchased for approximately ₹20 lakh was later sold to the trust for ₹2.5 crore, while another property reportedly received as a donation was eventually sold to the trust for ₹1 crore.

Singh further questioned more recent land purchases, including properties allegedly acquired in 2023 and 2024 for tens of crores of rupees. He urged authorities to conduct a comprehensive probe and determine whether public trust and donor sentiments had been misused.

The controversy escalated further after AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal raised fresh allegations regarding donations made to the Ram Temple. Addressing reporters in Lucknow, Kejriwal claimed that cash, silver and jewellery offered by devotees had been misappropriated and demanded greater transparency in the management of temple-related funds.

Kejriwal also criticised the SIT investigating the matter, alleging that the probe lacks sufficient powers to uncover the truth and suggesting that influential individuals could be protected from scrutiny.

The allegations have added a new political dimension to the Ram Temple issue, with AAP demanding a deeper investigation into land purchases and donations, while attention now turns to the SIT’s findings and any action it may recommend in the coming weeks.
