Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Friday voiced concern over activist Sonam Wangchuk’s prolonged hunger strike, urging the judiciary to intervene and demanding accountability from the Centre over the alleged NEET paper leak controversy.
Speaking to reporters in Nagpur, Raut appealed for immediate action, saying the matter had reached a critical stage as Wangchuk’s fast entered its 20th day.
“High Court should take cognisance. They should take responsibility for the NEET paper leak and seek the resignation of the minister concerned. It has now been 20 days of Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike. His condition is very serious, with possibilities of organ failure… Are these reports not reaching the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, or President Droupadi Murmu? They are being insensitive…” Raut said.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader alleged that the government had failed to respond despite growing concerns over Wangchuk’s deteriorating health. He said the seriousness of the situation required urgent intervention and questioned why the country’s top leadership had not reacted to reports about the activist’s condition.
Wangchuk has been on an indefinite hunger strike while pressing for action over the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. His protest has drawn support from several opposition leaders, who have called for greater government accountability and a response to the demands being raised.
