Patna: Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, launched a scathing attack on the state government on Monday, accusing it of recycling empty promises and masking ground realities through the Governor’s address. Speaking to reporters after the address, the RJD leader said the speech reflected a pattern Bihar has witnessed for years, irrespective of who occupies the Raj Bhavan.

Tejashwi remarked that for over a decade, the Assembly has heard similar addresses that, according to him, are drafted entirely by the government machinery. “We have been in the Assembly for ten years. No matter who the Governor is—new or old—the same prepared speech is read out every time,” he said.

He alleged that several welfare schemes highlighted in the address were not original initiatives of the current government. “Many of the schemes mentioned were copied from our programmes just before elections,” Tejashwi claimed, adding that despite tall claims of development, the situation on the ground tells a very different story.

Raising serious concerns over public safety, the former Deputy Chief Minister said Bihar is facing a grave law and order crisis. “Rapes, murders, kidnappings and shootings are happening in broad daylight,” he said, alleging that people no longer feel secure.

Tejashwi also accused the government of widespread corruption across multiple schemes. Citing independent assessments, he said, “If you look at any NITI Aayog report or survey—whether it is education, healthcare, per capita income or crime—Bihar tops the list only in two areas: corruption and crime.”

Questioning the role of the Governor, Tejashwi alleged that the constitutional head merely reads out what the state government dictates. “Many Governors have come and gone, but they have always read the same speech written by government officials,” he said, suggesting that the address lacked independent assessment or accountability.
