Davos, Switzerland: Former Rajya Sabha MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati attended the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos after receiving a special invitation from Poland, highlighting a rare historical and cultural connection between India and Poland.

Under the aegis of the World Economic Forum, Poland’s Centre for International Relations (CIR) organised a high-level session titled “Leaders Forum – Powered by Poland”, where Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati participated in the inaugural ceremony as Guest of Honour and addressed global delegates as a key speaker.

Speaking at the forum, Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati recalled the historical bond dating back to the Second World War, when his forefathers provided shelter and support to Polish families displaced after Germany’s invasion of Poland. He said this humanitarian gesture forged a lasting emotional connection between the two nations, which continues to resonate even today.

He said the purpose of his participation was to explore how this shared history and emotional bond could be transformed into meaningful contemporary cooperation, particularly in the areas of business, diplomacy and people-to-people relations between India and Poland.

Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati, who hails from the royal lineage of Shahu Maharaj, said he considers the recognition at Davos as an acknowledgment of the historic support extended to Poland by his ancestors. He added that carrying forward this legacy through modern engagement and cooperation remains an important responsibility.
