Thackeray Jr reminds his uncle that Yodhas (warrior of coronavirus) suffering while they are fighting against coronavirus
Mumbai: In the collateral damage out of the nationwide lockdown following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the cash-strapped government of Maharashtra has started pinching pocket and its first unfortunate casualty have been the doctors in the state health service, medical education department and students completing their resident-ship with the hospitals.
Amit Thackeray the leader of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has written and reminded the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray that he kept on calling health-workers as Yodhas (warriors) against coronavirus and that now they are demoralised due to salary cuts by the state government.
To control the loss of revenue the state government has started slashing salaries even with the staff of state secretariat.
However Amit in his letter to the CM Thackeray and Health Minister Rajesh Tope has brought in light that some of the doctors are facing 50 % cut off in their salaries. The letter states that on April 20 the state Health Ministry in its order had stated that doctors on contract will get monthly remuneration of Rs.55,000 to Rs.60,000. Earlier the same contract doctors were paid including monthly allowances Rs 78,000.
This drastic cut off in the salaries has demoralised the health-workers who are fighting against coronavirus.
Amit Thackeray has reminded the CM Thackeray that he during all his speeches mentioned the doctors, nurses and others in health care system are COVID Warriors, thus asked him to reconsider the cut off in the salaries of health-workers.
