In a bold assertion of political ambition, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal declared on Sunday that his party aims to contest and triumph in all seven Lok Sabha seats in the national capital in the upcoming elections. Kejriwal’s announcement came a day after AAP’s declaration of contesting all 13 seats in Punjab, signaling the party’s intent to expand its political footprint beyond its stronghold in Delhi.

Addressing a public rally in Tarn Taran alongside Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal emphasized AAP’s determination to secure a historic mandate in both Delhi and Punjab. He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of being apprehensive about AAP’s growing influence, asserting that AAP’s hard work will make it inevitable for the party to emerge victorious in Delhi.

Kejriwal’s proclamation elicited strong responses from rival political factions, with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge asserting during a Workers Convention in Ludhiana that the Congress party is poised to win all 13 seats in Punjab. The state Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring further dismissed AAP’s electoral prospects in Punjab, predicting a resounding defeat for the party at the hands of Congress candidates.

Kharge highlighted the importance of unity within the Congress ranks, affirming the party’s commitment to fighting alone and securing victory irrespective of alliances. While acknowledging challenges in forging alliances in certain states, Kharge emphasized the need for resilience and determination in the face of adversity.

The announcement of AAP’s intention to contest Lok Sabha elections independently outside the INDIA block, a coalition of opposition parties, coincided with Kharge’s visit to Delhi to discuss election strategies and internal party discipline concerns. Kejriwal’s decision underscores AAP’s confidence in its grassroots support and organizational capabilities, as it seeks to establish itself as a formidable political force beyond its traditional stronghold.

As the political landscape in Delhi and Punjab heats up with competing claims and counterclaims, the stage is set for a fiercely contested electoral battle. With AAP, BJP, and Congress vying for dominance, the upcoming elections are poised to be a crucial litmus test for the political fortunes of these parties and the future trajectory of Indian politics.
