The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has strongly condemned the alleged theft of donations from the Ram Lalla Temple in Ayodhya, describing the incident as a serious blow to the faith of millions of devotees. In its first detailed response to the controversy, the organisation called for strict legal action against those responsible and urged authorities to strengthen security and financial oversight at the temple.
RSS Says Incident Has Deeply Hurt Public Faith
Addressing the issue through a video statement, RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said the Ram Temple is not just a place of worship but also a symbol of the sacrifices and devotion of countless people who worked for decades to see the temple become a reality.
He said the alleged theft from the temple’s donation boxes had caused pain among devotees across the country and stressed that those found guilty should face the strictest possible punishment under the law.
According to the RSS, protecting the sanctity of the temple is essential to maintaining the trust and faith of crores of devotees.
Supports SIT Investigation
The organisation welcomed the decision to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged embezzlement. It noted that the investigation should be completed in a transparent manner and that legal proceedings should be taken to their logical conclusion without delay.
The RSS said accountability in the case would help restore public confidence and remove doubts surrounding the incident.
Calls For Better Security And Financial Systems
Along with demanding punishment for the accused, the RSS also urged the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust to introduce stronger safeguards to prevent similar incidents in the future.
It recommended tighter security arrangements, improved financial management systems and greater operational transparency so that devotees can continue to place complete trust in the temple administration.
The organisation said robust administrative mechanisms would ensure that the confidence of Ram devotees remains intact.
Appeal To Devotees
The RSS also appealed to the public to remain patient while the investigation is underway. It cautioned against attempts to politicise the issue or use the controversy to tarnish the image of the temple and Hindu society.
The organisation expressed hope that swift action by the temple trust and investigating agencies would bring clarity to the matter and reinforce public confidence in the management of one of India’s most important religious sites.
