Rohtak: The death of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) attached to the Rohtak Cyber Cell, who reportedly died by suicide, has escalated the scandal surrounding late IPS officer Y Puran Kumar. The ASI left a three-page suicide note and a video message accusing Puran Kumar of corruption — allegations the note says were the focus of his own probe.
Puran Kumar himself had died by suicide on October 7, leaving behind a note that named 16 senior IAS and IPS officers, and claiming that harassment from those officials drove him to take his life. The latest suicide, authorities say, was linked to an ongoing investigation into those very corruption allegations.
In the material left behind, the ASI described Puran Kumar as a “corrupt officer” and insisted he possessed “ample evidence” against him. He further alleged that Puran Kumar had died “out of fear of arrest” and accused him of “hijacking the system by exploiting casteism,” according to the note and the video message.
The ASI’s most stark lines read: “I am demanding an investigation by sacrificing my life. This corrupt family should not be spared.” These words, written in his three-page note, were intended to press authorities to open a full probe, the material says.
