Mumbai: A fresh political storm has erupted in Maharashtra after Rohit Pawar questioned the government’s inaction against aviation firm VSR following the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
In a sharply worded statement posted on social media, the NCP (SP) MLA raised concerns about accountability and alleged double standards in enforcement. He wrote, “If a contractor can be black-listed for poor work and an officer can be removed for non-performance, why has no action been taken against the company whose aircraft was involved in such a life-threatening incident?”
The crash, which occurred near Baramati, sent shockwaves across the country. However, according to Pawar, no visible steps have yet been initiated against VSR, the company that operated the aircraft.
Escalating his criticism, he stated, “The same justice should have been applied to VSR company too — cases should have been filed against it by now, and the company should have been barred from operations. But why isn’t that happening? That’s the million-dollar question.”
Rohit Pawar further hinted at possible political pressure shielding the firm. “Does the owner and partners of the company carry so much weight that even the government is scared to take action against them?” he asked, questioning whether influence was delaying regulatory action.
Highlighting broader safety concerns, the MLA emphasized that several prominent figures regularly use the airline’s services. He wrote, “If many important people in the country, celebrities, all-party political leaders are using VSR company’s services, aren’t their lives and those of the pilots and other employees equally important?”
