Rohit Pawar Backs Rahul Gandhi’s Allegations on EC, Calls It ‘Extended Version of BJP’

Washim: The political storm over Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s allegations against the Election Commission intensified on Thursday, with NCP–Sharad Chandra Pawar (NCP–SCP) MLA Rohit Pawar strongly backing Gandhi’s remarks.

Speaking to the media in Washim, Rohit Pawar drew a sharp contrast between public reactions to the 2024 Lok Sabha election results and the recently concluded Maharashtra Assembly elections.

“We saw how people were celebrating during the results of the Lok Sabha elections, while no one came out during Maharashtra Assembly elections,” Pawar observed, suggesting that public enthusiasm was noticeably absent in the state-level polls.

Pawar went on to highlight that Rahul Gandhi, during his recent address, had raised several points about the Election Commission’s conduct, transparency, and accountability.

“Rahul Gandhi highlighted a lot of things about the Election Commission yesterday, and people are now thinking that the Election Commission is an extended version of BJP,” he stated, accusing the constitutional body of losing its independence.
