Champat Rai, the general secretary of the Ram Temple Trust, recently disclosed intricate details about the idol of Lord Ram that will soon grace the revered Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Rai highlighted that the idol of Lord Ram is crafted in the likeness of a five-year-old child, known as Ram Lalla, and stands at a height of 51 inches, fashioned from dark-hued stone.

In a statement to the media, Rai emphasized the exquisite craftsmanship of the idol, noting its allure and meticulous construction. He elucidated that the idol of Lord Ram, symbolizing Ram Lalla, will find its sanctified place on the temple grounds, signifying a pivotal moment in the ongoing temple construction.

Rai further elaborated on the ceremonial arrangements, delineating the intended placements of the idols of Lord Ram’s siblings, Sita, and Hanuman on the temple’s first floor. However, Rai indicated that the completion of this arrangement might necessitate an additional eight months.

The sculpting of the ‘Ram Lalla’ idol, meticulously carved by the esteemed sculptor Arun Yogiraj from Karnataka, is scheduled for installation in the Ram temple on January 22. Despite this revelation, a formal confirmation from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra Trust regarding the idol selection is yet to be announced, adding an air of anticipation to the final decision.

According to Rai, the commencement of worship for the idol is slated for January 16, culminating in its installation within the sanctum sanctorum on January 18. Rai further highlighted a unique aspect of the idol’s design, detailing how the dimensions of Lord Ram’s statue and its placement have been meticulously structured based on guidance from esteemed space scientists. This arrangement aims to ensure that on Ram Navami, during the ninth day of Shukla Paksha of the Chaitra month, the sun’s rays will directly illuminate Lord Ram’s forehead at noon, symbolically anointing him.

Delving into the selection process, Rai emphasized the meticulous considerations in choosing the idol, focusing on intricate details such as facial softness, the depth of the gaze, the serene smile, and the overall physique. He reassured that the stone used for the idol remains impervious to the effects of water and milk, ensuring its lasting integrity.

The forthcoming installation of the idol of Lord Ram in the Ram Temple stands as a monumental moment in the cultural and religious landscape of Ayodhya, marking a significant step in the realization of this revered and historic endeavor.
