Total recoveries from Covid-19 in country cross 9.5 lakh mark

Recovery rate improves to 64.23%

New Delhi: The Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Tuesday said that the total recoveries from Covid-19 today crossed 9.5 lakh mark. With this, the recovery rate improved to 64.23 per cent in the country. The case fatality rate has further declined to 2.25 per cent. A total of nine lakh 52 thousand 743 people have recovered in the country so far and 35 thousand 175 recoveries have been reported in the last 24 hours.
 
The Health Ministry said, 47,703 new cases of Covid-19 have been registered in the country in one day taking the total number of cases to 14 lakh 83 thousand 156. Presently, the total number of active corona cases in the country is four lakh 96,988. In a single day, 654 deaths have also been reported taking the toll to 33,425. 

Meanwhile, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a record five lakh 28 thousand 82 tests were conducted by various laboratories in the last 24 hours. This is the second consecutive day, more than five lakh tests were conducted across the country.
 
So far, one crore 73 lakh 34,885 tests have been conducted and at present, one thousand 310 laboratories across India are conducting the tests that include 905 government laboratories and 405 private laboratory chains.

AIR reports that the Central government in collaboration with the States and Union Territories’ government has adopted the strategy of aggressive testing, tracking and treatment to deal with Covid-19 pandemic.
 
Effective containment strategies and clinical management protocols have improved recovery rate and reduced fatality rate.  In terms of recovery rate, Delhi stands at top position with 88.68 per cent recovery rate.

Ladakh, Haryana, Assam and Telangana are other top performing States and Union Territories wherein the recovery rate is above 75 per cent. Sixteen States and Union Territories have better recovery rates than the national average of 64.23 per cent.
 
Maximum numbers of people have recovered in Maharashtra followed by Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Andhra Pradesh. In terms of fatality rate, there are 29 States and Union Territories which have lower fatality rates than the national average of fatality rate. In the total active cases, 68.91 per cent caseloads are from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
