Encounter Breaks Out in Rajouri Forest Region
A fierce gunbattle erupted between terrorists and Indian security forces in the dense Dorimal forest region of Rajouri on Saturday after intelligence agencies received inputs regarding suspicious militant movement in the area.
According to officials, joint teams launched a large-scale search operation deep inside the forest belt when heavily armed terrorists allegedly opened fire on the advancing forces, triggering a prolonged encounter.
Multiple Terrorists Suspected to Be Trapped
Security agencies believe at least two to three terrorists are currently trapped within the forest zone, while additional militants may still be attempting to escape through nearby mountainous routes.
The entire area has been sealed off, with reinforcements rushed to the region to prevent any possible breakout. Drone surveillance and combing operations are also reportedly being used to track militant movement across the difficult terrain.
Massive Search Operation Underway
Army personnel, Jammu and Kashmir Police units and paramilitary forces have intensified the anti-terror operation across the forest corridor surrounding Dorimal.
Officials stated that intermittent firing continued for several hours as forces attempted to tighten the cordon around the suspected hideout locations. Security agencies have not yet confirmed casualties on either side.
Recent Anti-Terror Operations Intensified in Jammu Region
The latest encounter comes months after the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps announced a major breakthrough in anti-terror operations in the Jammu division earlier this year.
In February, security forces claimed they had dismantled a long-standing terror network operating in the Kishtwar region after an extensive operation lasting nearly a year.
Among those eliminated during that operation was reportedly Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Saifullah, who officials described as a key figure behind multiple terror activities in the region.
Security Agencies on High Alert
The fresh encounter in Rajouri has once again raised concerns over attempts by terror groups to revive militant activity in the Jammu region, particularly within dense forest belts often used as infiltration and hiding routes.
Security forces remain on high alert as the operation continues.
