Patna: Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday unveiled the ‘Most Backward Justice Manifesto’, aiming to empower backward, Dalit, tribal, and minority communities and boost their political and social participation.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Gandhi accused the BJP of spreading misinformation and diversionary tactics, contrasting it with the Congress party’s commitment to ensuring full rights and social justice for marginalized communities.
“No matter how many lies and diversionary conspiracies the BJP may hatch, we are committed to ensuring full rights for the most backward, Dalit, tribal, minority, and backward communities. In Bihar, to strengthen the most backward community and increase their participation, we have made concrete promises in the ‘Most Backward Justice Manifesto’. Education is the greatest means of progress for these communities, so there are special resolutions to increase their access in this sector,” Gandhi wrote.
The manifesto outlines key measures, including:
Reservation in private colleges and universities
Allocation of half of reserved seats in private schools to SC/ST/OBC/EBC children
Ending unjust practices such as “Not Found Suitable” in appointments
“This is not just about education, but the fight for equality and dignity for the most backward. This is the true guarantee of social justice and equitable development,” Gandhi added.
Congress MP Priyanka Vadra also highlighted that the INDIA bloc released a 10-point resolution for the Extremely Backward Class (EBC), which includes:
A new law against atrocities on EBC communities
Higher reservation in local bodies
Special benefits in education, housing, and government contracts
At the ‘Ati Pichhda Nyay Sankalp’ event in Patna, Rahul Gandhi assured voters that all ten commitments would be implemented if the INDIA bloc forms the government in Bihar.
