Punjab YouTuber Jasbir Singh Arrested for Spying for Pakistan; Espionage Network Linked to Expelled Pak Diplomats Unearthed

Punjab: In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police on Wednesday arrested YouTuber Jasbir Singh, the man behind the popular channel “Jaan Mahal”, for his alleged involvement in an espionage racket linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agencies. Singh was arrested from Rupnagar by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) based on actionable intelligence.

Confirming the arrest, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated in an X post, “Acting swiftly on actionable intelligence, State Special Operations Cell (#SSOC), Mohali has unearthed a critical espionage network linked to Jasbir Singh, a resident of Village Mahlan, #Rupnagar.”

Singh, who boasts over 1.1 million subscribers on YouTube, had allegedly been in contact with multiple suspicious individuals, including Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, expelled Pakistan High Commission staffer Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, and Pakistan Intelligence Officer (PIO) Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa.

Investigations revealed that Singh attended the Pakistan National Day event in Delhi in March 2024, on an invitation from Danish, where he reportedly met Pakistani Army officials and vloggers. He is also said to have travelled to Pakistan on three occasions – in 2020, 2021, and 2024.

Following the arrest of Jyoti Malhotra last month on similar charges, Singh allegedly tried to delete all communications with these operatives in an effort to evade detection. An FIR has been registered at SSOC, Mohali, and further investigation is underway.

“Investigations are underway to dismantle the broader espionage-terror network and identify all collaborators,” DGP Yadav added.

Singh’s arrest comes just a day after another man, Gagandeep Singh from Tarn Taran, was taken into custody for allegedly leaking sensitive Army movement details to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) during Operation Sindoor.

Last month, Jyoti Malhotra was arrested for espionage and sharing power grid-related data during Operation Sindoor. Reports suggest she had also been in contact with both Danish and Randhawa and had visited Pakistan three times in two years.
