A Nightmare in Nasrapur: What Happened
A chilling crime has left the residents of Nasrapur village in Bhor taluka, Pune district, in a state of grief and outrage. A four-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and killed by a 65-year-old man from the same village — a crime so horrifying that it has triggered widespread protests and a complete bandh across the area.
The young child had arrived at her grandmother’s home in Nasrapur for the holidays. On the day of the incident, the elderly accused allegedly lured her to a nearby cattle shed, where he is suspected to have sexually assaulted her. In an apparent attempt to prevent identification, he allegedly killed her by crushing her with a stone. To hide the crime further, he reportedly buried the child’s body beneath a pile of cow dung inside the shed.
How the Crime Came to Light
When the little girl did not return home in the afternoon, her family launched a frantic search across the village. During the search operation, her body was discovered concealed in the cattle shed. CCTV footage from the surrounding area proved to be a key piece of evidence — it reportedly showed the accused walking away with the child, which helped the police swiftly identify and apprehend him. The accused was taken into custody shortly after.
Police Register Case, Fast-Track Court Proceedings Assured
Authorities have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections pertaining to rape and murder. Sandip Singh Gill, Superintendent of Pune Rural Police, confirmed that a chargesheet will be filed within 15 days and that the case will be heard in a fast-track court. Superintendent Gill personally assured the protesting villagers that the police would pursue the matter with full force and ensure the strictest legal action possible.
Wave of Grief and Anger: Protests Erupt in Bhor
When the child’s body was brought near the local police station on Friday evening, deeply emotional scenes unfolded. Family members broke down in grief while hundreds of villagers gathered outside, united in their demand for justice. Protesters blocked roads, raised slogans, and demanded the harshest punishment for the accused. The atmosphere was charged with pain, anger, and a collective cry for accountability.
Nasrapur Bandh: A Village Stands Still in Solidarity
By Saturday morning, Nasrapur had come to a near-complete standstill. Shops and businesses downed shutters in observance of a bandh, supported by local trader associations and the general public. Hundreds of residents gathered for a large protest march — a “Nishedh Morcha” — which set off from the Bhairavnath Temple. Participants marched in solidarity with the victim’s grieving family, reiterating their demand for swift and decisive justice.
A Community Demands More Than Promises
This case has once again raised urgent concerns about the safety of children in rural communities. The speed of the police response and the filing of a chargesheet within 15 days, as promised, will be closely watched by both the victim’s family and the wider public. For now, an entire village mourns the loss of a four-year-old child who came to her grandmother’s home for the holidays — and never came back.
