Priyanka Gandhi Defends Rahul Gandhi, Slams Judiciary and Centre Over Parliament Row

New Delhi: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a scathing attack on the Centre and questioned the role of the judiciary in determining patriotism, amid growing political tensions following recent criticism of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi by the Supreme Court over his remarks on the India-China border clash.

Speaking to the media, Priyanka Gandhi said, “With all due respect to the judiciary, it is not for them to determine who is a true Indian and who is not. The judges will not decide that.”

Defending her brother Rahul Gandhi, she reiterated his long-standing respect for the Indian armed forces. “He has always held the Army in the highest regard. The interpretation of his remarks has been twisted. The responsibility of the Leader of Opposition is to question the government, and that is what Rahul Gandhi is doing,” she added.

Taking aim at the Modi government’s alleged unwillingness to engage in dialogue, Priyanka further said, “The government does not like to be questioned, so they are using tactics to suppress opposition voices. Why is it so difficult to run Parliament? Have they become so weak that they can’t even handle a discussion on a single issue raised unanimously by the entire opposition?”

Her comments come amid an opposition uproar demanding a detailed debate in Parliament on national security and the India-China border situation.
