Prakash Ambedkar Accuses Rahul Gandhi, Congress of Ignoring ‘76 Lakh Mystery Votes’ Scam in Maharashtra Assembly Elections

Mumbai: Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) president Prakash Ambedkar has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party of ignoring a crucial opportunity to expose what he calls the “76 lakh mystery votes scam” in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections.

Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s recent press conference, which he said was “a good job”, Ambedkar alleged that the Congress leadership refused to join hands with the VBA in investigating serious election irregularities in Maharashtra.

Ambedkar pointed to a “peculiar case” where 76 lakh votes were recorded after 6 PM on polling day, raising questions over the transparency of the Election Commission of India’s process. According to him, had the Congress agreed to work jointly with the VBA, these irregularities could have been exposed much earlier — preventing the possibility of such electoral manipulation in future polls, including the upcoming Bihar elections 2025.

“I had hoped that you would at least join as a party in the writ petition filed by VBA Mumbai President Chetan Ahire against the Election Commission of India,” Ambedkar said, expressing disappointment at the Congress’s “inaction” on what he calls one of the most serious electoral scams in recent history.

The VBA chief’s sharp remarks are likely to intensify the debate over electoral fraud in India and the credibility of the voting process. Political observers note that allegations surrounding the 76 lakh mystery votes could become a major flashpoint in the run-up to the Bihar Assembly elections.

Ambedkar’s attack comes amid growing opposition demands for a full investigation into electronic voting machine (EVM) functioning, voter data transparency, and the Election Commission’s accountability in handling post-6 PM votes.
