A fierce battle for political dominance has erupted in Maharashtra as rival factions within the Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi alliances vie for the coveted Madha Lok Sabha seat. Amidst escalating tensions, demands and counter-demands are flying as key players maneuver to secure their candidates ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In a significant development, Shekap MLA Jayant Patil of the Mahavikas Aghadi has thrown his weight behind Dr. Aniket Deshmukh, the grandson of former MLA Ganpat Deshmukh, as the coalition’s nominee for the Madha constituency. Patil recently held discussions with NCP President Sharad Pawar to press for Dr. Deshmukh’s candidature, emphasizing the need for a strong contender to represent the alliance.

However, the tussle over the Madha seat is far from settled, with Rasp leader Mahadev Jankar vehemently asserting his claim to the constituency. Despite Patil’s assertion that Jankar would support Dr. Deshmukh’s nomination if the grandson of Ganpatrao Gaikwad is fielded from Shekap, tensions remain high within the coalition. Patil has reaffirmed his allegiance to the Mahavikas Aghadi leadership while expressing readiness to abide by their decision on the matter.

Meanwhile, in the Mahayuti alliance, the BJP’s announcement of Ranjitsinh Naik-Nimbalkar as its candidate for the Madha seat has sparked dissent within the Vijaysinh Mohite Patil camp. Mohite Patil’s supporters have vocally opposed Naik-Nimbalkar’s nomination, advocating instead for Mohite Patil’s candidacy. Attempts at reconciliation, led by BJP leader Girish Mahajan, have been met with resistance, further exacerbating internal strife within the alliance.

As the political landscape continues to shift, Ranjitsinh Naik-Nimbalkar has convened a meeting of his supporters to rally support for his candidacy. The meeting, scheduled at the farmhouse of MLA Sanjaymama Shinde in Tembhurni, is expected to draw significant attendance from Madha’s political heavyweights, including MLAs from Sangola, Man Khatav, Madha, Karmala, and Malshiras constituencies.

With alliances strained and allegiances tested, the battle for the Madha Lok Sabha seat underscores the high stakes and intense competition characterizing Maharashtra’s political arena. As rival factions jockey for supremacy, the outcome of this contest is poised to shape the state’s political landscape in the upcoming elections.
