Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a significant journey to Kolkata, inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for various projects valued at a staggering ₹15,400 crore. In addition to the Metro inauguration, PM Modi flagged off several other train services aimed at bolstering urban mobility in Kolkata. These include the Kavi Subhash-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay and the Taratala-Majerhat Metro sections, further augmenting the city’s public transportation network.
Furthermore, PM Modi dedicated several other projects across different states during his visit, including the Pune Metro Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi stretch, Kochi Metro Rail Phase I Extension project, Agra Metro’s Taj East Gate to Mankameshwar stretch, and the Duhai-Modinagar (North) section of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor.
Later in the day, PM Modi is scheduled to address a public rally in Barasat, North 24 Parganas district, underscoring the government’s commitment to engaging with the people and addressing their concerns.
This visit follows PM Modi’s recent trip to West Bengal, during which he addressed rallies in Hooghly’s Arambagh and Nadia’s Krishnanagar. During these addresses, PM Modi condemned the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government for alleged atrocities on women in Sandeshkhali, calling for a united effort to ensure TMC’s defeat in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
