Mumbai: The financial capital is all set to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will address the Global Maritime CEO Forum at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon (East) on Wednesday. The prestigious event is a key highlight of India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, expected to attract global maritime leaders, top policymakers, and international investors — prompting the Mumbai Traffic Police to issue extensive traffic restrictions in the surrounding areas.

The five-day India Maritime Week, themed “Sustainable Maritime Growth and Blue Economy Strategies,” was inaugurated on October 27 by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The conclave aims to establish India as a global maritime power, focusing on strengthening port infrastructure, green shipping, and resilient supply chains.

A ceremonial lamp-lighting marked the beginning of the event, symbolizing unity and the dawn of a new maritime era for India. Prime Minister Modi’s address is expected to outline India’s roadmap for maritime innovation and international collaboration.

Traffic Diversions and Restrictions

To ensure smooth movement of dignitaries, the Mumbai Traffic Police have announced temporary traffic restrictions and diversions across the Jogeshwari–Goregaon belt, effective from 8 AM to 10 PM daily until October 31.

According to the advisory issued by the Jogeshwari Traffic Division, the following restrictions will apply:

The stretch between Mrinaltai Gore Junction and NESCO Gap will remain closed for general vehicles.

Only emergency vehicles, VIP convoys, and local residents will be permitted entry.

The right turn from Mrinaltai Gore Junction towards NESCO Gap via Ram Mandir Road will be closed.

The service road from Hub Mall to Jaycoach Junction will remain shut.

Traffic from NESCO Gap to Mrinaltai Gore Junction will operate as a one-way route.

Commuters from the Ram Mandir side are advised to use alternative routes via Mrinaltai Gore Flyover – Mahananda Dairy WEH South Service Road – Jaycoach Junction – JVLR Junction.

Vehicles approaching from JVLR Junction can head toward Powai via JVLR or merge onto the Western Express Highway (WEH) using the service road to reach the main carriageway.

Additionally, nine roads — including key stretches along WEH (north and southbound), NESCO Service Road, Ghas Bazaar Road, Vannrai Police Station Service Road, and Ashok Nagar Service Road — have been declared no-parking zones during the event.
