Arunachal Pradesh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the foundation stones for two landmark hydropower projects in Arunachal Pradesh—the Heo Hydro Electric Project (240 MW) and the Tato-I Hydro Electric Project (186 MW)—to be developed in the Siyom sub-basin, marking a major step in boosting the state’s renewable energy capacity.

Alongside the hydropower projects, PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Convention Centre in Tawang, set to become a hub for cultural, business, and social events.

In addition, multiple key infrastructure projects worth over Rs 1,290 crore were inaugurated, covering crucial sectors such as connectivity, healthcare, fire safety, and hostels for working women, reflecting the government’s focus on holistic regional development.

Officials noted that the hydropower projects will not only enhance Arunachal Pradesh’s electricity generation but also create employment opportunities and boost local industries, while the infrastructure initiatives aim to improve the quality of life and safety standards across the state.
