As the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 unfolds, Prime Minister Narendra Modi kickstarted his election campaign from West Bengal’s Malda, launching a blistering attack on the Congress and Trinamool Congress (TMC) parties.
Addressing a rally amidst polling across 88 seats spanning 12 states, PM Modi didn’t hold back in his criticism of the opposition. “I am sure that the parties like Congress and TMC, which faced defeat in the first phase of elections, will face further setbacks in the second phase!” he proclaimed, rallying his supporters with confidence.
Highlighting the deteriorating state of affairs under the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government, PM Modi lamented the decline of Bengal’s once illustrious legacy. “There was a time when Bengal led in every sphere of development, but the Left and the TMC have tarnished its glory,” he lamented, citing the pervasive corruption plaguing the state under TMC rule.
Accusing the TMC of orchestrating scams worth thousands of crores at the expense of Bengal’s progress, PM Modi minced no words in his condemnation. “Under TMC rule, only one thing exists – scams totaling thousands of crores! The culprit is TMC, but the entire Bengal is forced to pay for its deception!” he declared, drawing attention to the party’s alleged misdeeds.
In a scathing rebuke, PM Modi denounced both TMC and Congress for their divisive politics driven by appeasement tactics. “The biggest ‘magnet’ to keep TMC and Congress together is appeasement,” he asserted, accusing the parties of prioritizing vote bank politics over national interest.
Drawing attention to his previous remarks about Congress seizing property, PM Modi questioned the TMC’s silence on the matter, highlighting a perceived competition of appeasement between the two parties. “The TMC government settles Bangladeshi infiltrators in Bengal, while Congress talks about distributing assets among such vote banks,” he thundered, painting a stark picture of the alleged collusion between the two parties.
PM Modi’s fiery rhetoric resonated with BJP supporters as he campaigned for party candidates Khagen Murmu and, who are pitted against TMC’s Prasun Banerjee and Congress candidate Mostaque Alam. In the previous election, Khagen Murmu secured victory over TMC’s Mausam Noor with an impressive margin of over 83,000 votes, indicating the BJP’s stronghold in the region.
As the electoral battle intensifies, PM Modi’s impassioned appeal serves as a rallying cry for voters, underscoring the stakes involved in shaping the future of Bengal and the nation at large.
