PM Modi Congratulates DK Shivakumar, Assures Full Support to New Karnataka Government

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated Karnataka’s newly sworn-in Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and said the Union Government would work closely with the state administration to promote development and public welfare.

In a message issued shortly after the swearing-in ceremony, Modi conveyed his best wishes to Shivakumar and expressed confidence that cooperation between the Centre and Karnataka would continue on matters concerning the state’s progress.

Modi Signals Cooperative Approach

The Prime Minister’s remarks came as Karnataka witnessed a major political transition with the formation of a new Congress-led government under DK Shivakumar. Despite being political rivals at the national level, the BJP-led Centre and the new state government are expected to coordinate on infrastructure, welfare schemes and development projects.

Modi’s message was viewed as a signal that administrative cooperation would continue regardless of political differences.

DK Shivakumar Takes Charge

DK Shivakumar formally assumed office as Karnataka’s 25th Chief Minister during a ceremony held in Bengaluru. The veteran Congress leader took the oath of office while holding a copy of the Constitution, a gesture that drew considerable attention during the event.

The oath was administered by Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot in the presence of senior Congress leaders, party workers and invited guests from across the country.

New Leadership Team Sworn In

Alongside Shivakumar, senior Congress leader G Parameshwara was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister. A group of cabinet ministers also joined the new government, marking the beginning of a fresh administrative phase in the state.

The cabinet includes several experienced leaders who have previously handled important portfolios, as well as younger faces expected to play key roles in the government’s future agenda.

Focus Shifts to Governance

With the transition of power complete, attention is now turning to the priorities of the new administration. Issues such as economic growth, infrastructure expansion, social welfare and employment are expected to feature prominently in the government’s agenda.

Political observers believe the relationship between the Centre and the Karnataka government will be closely watched in the coming months, particularly on projects requiring coordination between both administrations.

As the new government settles into office, the Prime Minister’s assurance of support is being seen as an important message of continuity and cooperation at a time of significant political change in Karnataka.
