Delhi: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has died in the charter aircraft crash near Baramati, according to an official statement from the Maharashtra government. The state administration said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah personally contacted Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to receive updates on the tragic incident.

As per information shared with the Centre, the aircraft was operating a charter flight from Mumbai to Baramati and crashed while attempting to land around 8:45 am. Ajit Pawar was travelling in the aircraft along with two members of his personal staff — a Personal Security Officer (PSO) and an attendant — and two crew members, including the Pilot-in-Command and First Officer.

The Maharashtra government stated that initial reports indicate no survivors from the crash. Emergency services rushed to the spot immediately after the incident, but the aircraft was found completely destroyed, leaving no scope for rescue.
