Vadnagar: In a significant announcement, Union Home Minister Amit Shah revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set his sights on hosting the 2036 Olympics in Ahmedabad. Shah made the statement during an event inaugurating key infrastructure projects in Vadnagar, Mehsana district, marking the first official declaration regarding the government’s plans for the Games.

“Prime Minister Modi has set a goal of hosting the 2036 Olympics in Ahmedabad. By then, the youth from Vadnagar will have the opportunity to participate,” Shah said, underscoring the significance of the project for the region.

This statement follows India’s submission of a letter of intent to the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Future Host Commission on October 1, officially expressing its interest in hosting the prestigious event. Though the letter did not specify a host city, Shah’s remarks clearly align with the government’s vision to bring the Olympics to Gujarat.

Speaking further at the event, Shah highlighted Vadnagar’s rich cultural heritage, noting that it is the birthplace of PM Modi. He praised the city as one of the most ancient in the country, with a continuous history spanning over 2,500 years.
