Mumbai: A fresh political war of words erupted in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar during Makar Sankranti celebrations, with Maharashtra minister Sanjay Shirsat launching a sharp attack on AIMIM state president Imtiaz Jaleel and the Shiv Sena (UBT).
Reacting to Imtiaz Jaleel being seen flying kites on Makar Sankranti, Shirsat dismissed the gesture as political theatrics. He claimed the festival moment could not hide what he described as public rejection. “Yes, that’s his last kite festival. After being humiliated by the people, he is trying to show off by flying kites. The people have already shown him his place,” Shirsat said, taking a direct swipe at the AIMIM leader.
Shirsat did not stop there. He also targeted the Shiv Sena (UBT) over its slogan ‘Ek hain to safe hain’, questioning its relevance in the current political scenario. According to him, the slogan has come far too late to make any impact. “They should have understood this ‘Ek hain to safe hain’ principle in 2019, or at least by 2022. This slogan is of no use to them now,” he remarked.
