New Delhi: Senior IPS officer Parag Jain has been appointed as the new Chief of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), India’s external intelligence agency, for a term of two years. Jain, a 1989-batch officer from the Punjab cadre, will take over from incumbent Secretary Ravi Sinha, whose tenure concludes on June 30.
Currently heading the Aviation Research Centre (ARC), Jain has been credited with crucial intelligence-gathering efforts during ‘Operation Sindoor’ against the Pakistani armed forces. His extensive experience includes serving as Senior Superintendent of Police in Chandigarh and representing India in diplomatic capacities in Canada and Sri Lanka.
Jain has also made significant contributions to counter-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir, supporting the Centre’s security and intelligence strategies in the conflict-hit region.He will formally assume charge as the new R&AW chief on July 1.
