Patna: In a significant legal development, a court in Patna has granted bail to Independent MP Pappu Yadav in three separate criminal cases registered in Patna and Purnea districts, clearing the way for his possible release from judicial custody.

The relief came in cases lodged at Kotwali and Buddha Colony police stations in Patna. The allegations included organising protest demonstrations and obstructing government work. Two of the cases—dating back to 2017 and 2019—were linked to public protests, while another involved accusations of interfering with official duties.

Advocate Shivnandan Bharti, representing the MP, said, “The court has granted bail in all three matters. We are completing the required formalities, and he may be released later today.”

Pappu Yadav had remained in custody while his bail pleas were under consideration. With Friday’s order covering all pending cases in these districts, there are no immediate legal hurdles to his release in connection with them.

The ruling follows earlier relief granted by an MP-MLA court earlier this week in a decades-old case, marking a series of favorable court decisions for the outspoken parliamentarian.

Supporters gathered outside the court premises welcomed the order, calling it a victory for justice. A party worker present there said, “We always believed the truth would prevail. This strengthens our faith in the judiciary.”
