In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, one more terrorist was killed in an encounter that had broken out between terrorists and security forces in Melhora area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district last evening, taking the number of terrorists killed in the gunbattle to two.
Police sources said that a joint team of security forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at Melhora village following the intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
As the joint team approached towards the suspected spot, the terrorists fired upon them and two terrorists were killed in retaliation. The identity of both the slain terrorists is being ascertained. One AK Rifle and one pistol were recovered from their possession. The search operation in the area was going on when the reports last came in. Further details are awaited.
