Mumbai: Asserting confidence in the working style of his newly formed government, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that not a single industry will shift out of Maharashtra henceforth.
The industrious assurance came at Thackeray’s first-ever interaction with the stalwarts of India industries. The state government will take all necessary steps for the big, medium and small scale industries to help them flourish and pave the way for Maharashtra in becoming a 5- trillion-dollar economy by 2025, CM Thackeray stated on Tuesday.
“Leading industrialists have put forth their issues, expressed concerns over certain delays in projects, raised questions and even made suggestions to the CM, who gave a patient hearing to all,” Industry Minister Subhash Desai told media persons after the conclave at the state government’s Sahyadri Guest House.
Among the prominent personalities present at the interaction with the CM were Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani, the Hindujas, Gautam Singhania, Adi Godrej, Deepak Parekh, Anand Mahindra, Sajjan Jindal, Uday Kotak, Niranjan Hiranandani, Baba Kalyani, and others.
Thackeray cleared all the air of apprehensions by specifically stating that no projects would be put on hold. However, the state government under his leadership would fast-track their implementation.
Procedures, permissions, and other formalities would be speeded up and east of doing business would be further relaxed for the benefit of the industry, and a cordial atmosphere would be created for business in the state to ensure not a single industry moves out of Maharashtra besides correcting the regional imbalances, Thackeray committed to the industry leaders.
Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray stressed on the need to develop Mumbai as a global tourist destination. He directed the need to construct better roads, provide comprehensive health and aggrandized education, which could be developed and implemented with the help of industrial houses. The young minister said that he will use social media to spread awareness and resolve all issues of the island city.
Desai said that even though the state has inherited a debt burden of Rs 6.71 lakh crore the progress of Tuesday’s decisions would be reviewed within three months and such discussions with the industrialists will continue in future.
Incidentally, the CM’s meeting with the industry leaders came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a similar meeting for them in the capital on 6 January.
