Noida Traffic Police Imposes Fines Up to Rs 20,000 on Breakdown Vehicles to Ease Expressway Congestion

Noida Traffic Police has introduced strict penalties for commercial vehicles breaking down and obstructing traffic on the Noida Expressway. With 8 to 10 lakh vehicles using the expressway daily, authorities aim to reduce congestion and ensure smoother traffic flow.

Under Section 201 of the Motor Vehicles Act, commercial vehicles causing blockages will face fines ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹20,000. Additionally, officials can suspend offending vehicles for repeated violations.

Strict Enforcement Begins:

  • 22 vehicles seized in the last seven days for breakdowns.
  • 210 vehicles fined for obstructing traffic.

Speed Limits Reduced:
Recent adjustments include:

  • Yamuna Expressway: Light vehicles – 75 km/h, Heavy vehicles – 60 km/h
  • Noida-Greater Noida Expressway: Light vehicles – 75 km/h, Heavy vehicles – 50 km/h

These speed restrictions will remain in effect until February 15, 2025, to improve road safety during peak winter months. Authorities are committed to stricter enforcement to ensure discipline and efficiency on Delhi-NCR’s busiest expressways.
