No Leadership Change in Karnataka, High Command Will Decide: Minister Priyank Kharge Shuts Down Speculation

Bengaluru: Amid swirling media speculation over a possible change in leadership in Karnataka, Minister Priyank Kharge firmly dismissed all rumours, stating that there is no such discussion within the Congress party.

Speaking to the media, Kharge said, “Who said that the leadership is going to be changed?… Randeep Singh Surjewala was in the state for 3-4 days, evaluating the performance of our MLAs, ministers, and the government. When there is no talk about change in leadership, it does not matter what anyone says to the media.”

He emphasized that decisions regarding leadership are made solely by the party high command and reiterated that both the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister have already clarified the matter. “The party high command decides such things—that is what has been said by the CM and the DCM. There should be no speculation,” he added.

Kharge’s statement comes after senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala visited Karnataka to assess the government’s and legislators’ performance, sparking rumors of internal changes.

The Congress government in Karnataka, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar, has repeatedly stated that the leadership issue is settled and that the focus remains on governance and fulfilling public expectations.
