Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Nitesh Rane has questioned the Uddhav Thackeray led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government over Mumbai Commissioner of Police (CP) Sanjay Pande and a few other police officials attending Iftar Party organised by Raza Academy.

In a tweet, MLA Nitesh Rane has stated that a few years back protest called by Raza Academy in Mumbai had turned violent in which they had attacked Mumbai police officials too who were on duty to control this.

There were allegations against those violent protestors that they misbehaved with female cops who were on duty on that day in the South Mumbai’s Azad Maidan area, Rane has stated.

Nitesh Rane in his tweet further says “is it an attempt by MVA government to appease such people who were involved in anti national acts. Is there is pressure on officials to attend such gatherings from government only?”, Rane asked the question.

He has tweeted photos of Mumbai police commissioner Sanjay Pande and other few officials along with Raza Academy members. BJP has always held Raza Academy responsible for trying to disturb the communal harmony of Mumbai. In the past, Nitesh Rane has alleged that Raza Academy was involved in spreading misinformation about the vandalism of the Mosque in Tripura which never happened. With this tweet, Nitesh Rane has once again raised the issue of how women cops were manhandled and misbehaved with.

In the state of Maharashtra right now issue of Azan versus Hanuman Chalisa is heating up. Political parties like BJP and Maharshtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) are raising the issue of removing loudspeakers on mosques or else they will also recite Hanuman Chalisa over the loudspeaker. MNS chief Raj Thackeray has also given an ultimatum to State Government to remove speakers before May 3, this year from all the mosques citing Supreme Court’s (SC) order.
