National Investigation Agency (NIA) today conducted searches at over 50 locations in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi-NCR region. The searches were conducted to dismantle and disrupt the nexus between terrorists, gangsters, drug smugglers and traffickers based in the country and abroad.
NIA said, five pistols, revolvers, ammunition, incriminating documents, digital devices, benami properties acquired through proceeds of crimes were seized during the searches. According to NIA, preliminary investigations have revealed that these gangs were carrying out targeted killings and were involved in raising funds to carry out such criminal activities through smuggling of drugs and weapons. The Agency said, these gangs were using cyber-space to publicise these crimes to create terror among the public. The Agency said, further investigations will continue to dismantle such terror networks as well as their funding and support infrastructure.
