NEET and JEE aspirants demand postponing the exams due to Covid-19 fear

Mumbai: The Covid-19 induced lockdown has badly affected people’s lives in our nation. Final year studying students and now NEET and JEE students are highly fed up of this uncertainty revolving around exams.

These students have started a trend on Twitter virtually chanting “Satyagraha against Exams in Covid 19”. Around 3 million people on Twitter have supported this trend.

These NEET and JEE aspirants claimed that their mental situation is declining due to the Covid 19 fear and uncertainty around exams.

BJP Leader Subramanian Swamy, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia have also tweeted supporting these students.

Speaking to thenews21 an NEET aspirant Piyush Salve said “Our mental situation is not normal. Please don’t push us to death. 70,000 cases had come yesterday and now 950 students have already committed suicide. I urge the government to let the situation get a bit normal.” He also said “Please understand Students ki Man ki Baat”. 

Sudhanshu Rock another JEE aspirant said “Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal (Nishank) doesn’t have a sensitive heart. Lakhs of students and their families are asking for postponement and cancellation of exams due to Covid 19. But they don’t care at all”.

Neeraj Kumar co ordinator of Kirti College BMM department said “I also am in favour of postponing exams because the basic reason is everything is going to be online”. She was also informed saying “So many students are not connected online, the internet does not work and many don’t have technological apparatus at their home also.” 

“They work and study often on their phone. Courses were also not completed, revisions were also not done even prelims weren’t conducted” she added.- By Rishikesh Chavan
