Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar made a compelling plea to voters in Baramati during a public meeting on Wednesday, seeking their support for his wife in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. In a significant shift from his previous campaigns for his sister, Pawar emphasized the importance of backing his spouse this time.
Addressing the crowd, Ajit Pawar humorously referenced the familial dynamics within the political landscape, taking a light-hearted jab at Supriya Sule, the current MP of Baramati and daughter of Sharad Pawar. He urged voters to extend courteous treatment to those who mention his name but to administer a figurative “injection” to those who align with the opposition, before swiftly retracting his statement.
The Baramati Lok Sabha seat is now the stage for an intriguing electoral battle dubbed “Bhabhi vs Nanad” (sisters-in-law), as Sharad Pawar nominated his daughter Supriya Sule to contest from his stronghold.
Ajit Pawar reflected on his past campaigns, highlighting his previous appeals for votes on behalf of Supriya Sule over the past decade. However, he underscored the need for a shift in strategy, urging voters to consider supporting his wife this time. He lamented the lack of significant central projects in the Baramati constituency, attributing it to persistent criticism of the Prime Minister.
Echoing his recent sentiments, Ajit Pawar reiterated his call for voters to elect his daughter-in-law, emphasizing the longstanding political legacy of the Pawar family.
