Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president, Sharad Pawar on Thursday expressed satisfaction on the working style of Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, adding that he (Thackeray) has been successfully running the three-party coalition government in the state. Pawar said although Uddhav Thackeray talks less he is “smart” which is apparent from him running the coalition government.

Pawar expressed confidence that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government will complete its five-year term. “The government will work for the people of the state for five years,” he said after releasing a book ‘Maharashtra Thambla Naahi, Maharashtra Thaambnar Naahi (Maharashtra has not stopped and Maharashtra will never stop) published by the governments publicity department, the Directorate General of Information and Public Relation (DGIPR) to mark the first anniversary of Maha Vikas Aghadi government at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai.

The MVA government comprises the Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party and Congress.

He said the chief minister, deputy chief minister, all the ministers and all those who cooperated with the government should be congratulated.

Maharashtra is an important state from the point of view of industries. “If the speed of the state stops then the economy of the country can also stop. The government has ensured that the momentum of the industries stays on and the people do not lose their jobs. The government has paid special attention to it. As a result the industries and factories in the state did not shut,” Pawar said.

The NCP leader said it was due to the leadership of Chief Minister all this could be achieved. “People also cooperated in overcoming the crisis as a result of which the Jagganath Rath (peoples chariot) of the state could move forward,” he underlined.

Launching a scathing attack against the Centre, Pawar said that since the past 8-10 days farmers from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are on the streets sitting on the fast. He accused the Centre saying that those at the helm of affairs of being unable to understand the issues of farmers’ due to which the outrage is seen. “The farmers in Maharashtra did not hit the street in last one year which attributes the success of the state government,” he said.

In a veiled attack against the BJP, he said those who have been away from power are raising suspicion at the functioning of the government. “Every representative in the government is performing his duty efficiently. Hence, even those hit by crisis have confidence in the government,” he remarked.
