The Nashik Lok Sabha constituency has become a focal point of contention within the Mahayuti alliance as rival factions vie for candidacy, sparking rifts and discord ahead of the upcoming elections.

Former MLA Rajabhau Waje’s nomination by the Shiv Sena Thackeray faction for the Nashik seat has ignited tensions within the alliance. However, the Mahayuti seat-sharing agreement has yet to resolve the standoff.

MP Hemant Godse, representing the Shiv Sena Shinde faction, has staunchly advocated for the Nashik seat, intensifying the intra-party struggle. Meanwhile, Minister of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Ajit Pawar’s ally, Chhagan Bhujbal, has also staked a claim for the coveted constituency.

MP Shrikant Shinde’s endorsement of Hemant Godse as the sole candidate for the Grand Alliance in Nashik has fueled discontent within the coalition. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has asserted its dominance in the region and demanded representation for the seat.

Bhujbal, asserting his candidature for Nashik, revealed that the decision came from higher authorities, refuting rumors of contesting on the lotus symbol. Speculation swirls regarding Bhujbal’s potential switch to the lotus symbol, which he vehemently denies as baseless.

Addressing the seat allocation issue, Bhujbal reiterated Ajit Pawar’s insistence on his candidacy. Praful Patel supported Pawar’s claim, emphasizing Bhujbal’s suitability for the seat.

Amidst the political upheaval, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s unconditional support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi has added another layer of complexity. Bhujbal welcomed Thackeray’s endorsement, recognizing its potential to bolster the coalition’s strength.

As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, the power struggle within the Mahayuti alliance underscores the challenges of coalition politics, with competing interests threatening to disrupt harmony and cohesion.
