Mumbai: Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Nana Patole on Thursday taunted Chief Minister Eknath Shinde remarking that the latter was reading a script written by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to justify his betrayal.

In a statement issued here today, the MPCC president stated that the Eknath Shinde faction had arranged for a paid crowds from different parts of the state for the Dussehra rally at BKC ground by giving false information to the general public, but these people left without hearing Shinde’s speech. The people of the state saw yesterday that the Chief Minister of the state is a puppet of the BJP.

Nana Patole further lambasted Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for criticising the Congress party in the rally. “Actually, Eknath Shinde’s betrayal is an internal matter between him and the Shiv Sena. But we will not tolerate that Eknath Shinde and his supporters, ministers, MLAs continue to repeatedly criticize the Congress to cover their sin of rebellion”, remarked Patole.

The MPCC president further stated that Eknath Shinde should not worry about who is or should be the president of the Congress party. Eknath Shinde doesn’t know what his own party is, it’s ridiculous for him to talk about Congress.

Patole further remarked that the Congress party is the oldest and the most experienced party in the country and has played a major role in bringing independence to the country and making the country stand tall in the world today. Eknath Shinde’s performance is nothing. His only achievement is to act on BJP’s instructions and to implement Delhi’s orders.

Under the leadership of Shiv Sena party chief Uddhav Thackeray, the Shiv Sena had formed the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government with the support of the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) along with their elected MLAs in 2019. This government was formed for the benefit of the people of the state by keeping the communal forces like the BJP out of power.

“Eknath Shinde along with 40 MLAs were also in this government. If Congress’s support was so unwanted, why did they not dare to exit at the same time? They talk about late Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray’s ideology, but the same Balasaheb Thackeray had supported Congress candidates Pratibha Patil and Pranab Mukherjee for the election of President of India. Doesn’t Eknath Shinde know this? Why didn’t Eknath Shinde dare to protest at that time? Congress state president also said that Eknath Shinde, who bowed down to the BJP for his own political ambitions should stop blaming Congress”, added Patole.
