New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, a prominent ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), launched a scathing attack on Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on the final day of campaigning for the Delhi Assembly elections. Naidu, who campaigned for the BJP in Delhi on Sunday, claimed that under the AAP government, there was no distinction between drainage water and drinking water, highlighting his criticism of the capital’s governance.

Naidu described the AAP-led administration as a “half-engine” government, stating that Delhi required a “double-engine” government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He also criticized the AAP’s welfare schemes, arguing that they were unsustainable without a focus on wealth creation.

“Delhi is a failed model. There is no doubt about it. Those who create wealth can talk about welfare. Without creating wealth, you cannot talk about distribution of welfare,” Naidu said, pointing to the city’s increasing pollution and economic challenges. He emphasized that the national capital had become one of the most polluted cities globally, further exacerbating the quality of life for its residents.

Naidu also touched upon the controversial Delhi liquor policy scam, suggesting that it reflected the failure of the AAP government. “Compared to every other scam, the liquor scam is the worst,” Naidu remarked, criticizing Kejriwal’s handling of the issue.

He further expressed concerns about the state of governance in Delhi, citing both environmental pollution and political mismanagement as issues adversely affecting the city’s residents. “Both are dangerous for health,” Naidu added, accusing AAP of failing to deliver effective governance over the last decade.

As the Delhi Assembly elections approach, Naidu’s statements underscore the BJP’s push to dislodge AAP from power. The party hopes to counter the AAP’s dominance, having secured 62 and 67 seats in the last two assembly elections. Voting will take place on February 5, with results scheduled for February 8.
