My silence does not mean that I have no answer: Uddhav on spat with Kangana Ranaut

Mumbai: Breaking his silence over the ongoing ugly spat between his Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said that his keeping mum on the incident should not be taken as that he does not have an answer for it.

“With the easing of restriction…some people have again started their politics. I do not say anything and that does not mean that I do not have an answer to it,” he said.

Addressing the people through video conferencing, Thackeray said, a game plan is on to tarnish the image of Maharashtra. He said he will soon speak on the issue by removing the mask of the chief ministership. However, today, the issue of coronavirus is of greater importance.

Thackeray’s comments comes close on the heels of his party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut who has slammed the BJP over supporting Ranaut when he likened Mumbai to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK)  and BMC to Babar when the civic authorities took action against illegal construction at one of her property in Bandra’s Pali Hill.

People will have to take responsibility to beat the virus

The Chief Minister also said that people will have to take responsibility to win over the battle against novel coronavirus in the state.

“People should cooperate with the teams that will visit each household in the state to conduct health checkups by providing them correct information,” he said.

Speaking about the month long mission called ‘My family-My responsibility,’ that will commence from September 15 and will conclude on October 10, he said, the programme will be on the lines of “Chase the Virus” that was implemented in Mumbai.

He said the state’s population is 12 crore and hence exhorted the local public representatives to participate and cooperate with the health teams so that as many households can be covered.

Thackeray further said that people should continue to wear mask and strictly adhere to Covid protocols when they step out of their home.

“We hope that by December or January 2021 the vaccine will be available. I would once again appeal that one should step out of the house only if it is important and should wear a mask while going in a crowded area,” Thackeray said.

He said in Mumbai and Pune cases of Covid are on rise.

“In Mumbai 2000 people are getting the virus. In rural areas also it is spreading thick and fast,” he added.

Referring to the World Health Organisation (WHO) warning about rise in cases, he said that it is the precursor to a bigger crisis.

Loan waiver scheme reached 23.29 lakh farmers

He said that the state government has waived the loans of 23.29 lakh farmers’. He further said that the government will give powdered milk to malnourished children and will also give the same to 1.25 lakh pregnant and lactating mothers.
