Mumbai: Shiv Sena spokesperson and Member of Legislative Council Dr Manisha Kayande has responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s criticism of the Maharashtra government over spread of Coronavirus and issue of migrant labourers with statistics. She urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to mislead the country.

Dr. Manisha Kayande said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is misleading the country. It is not migrant labourers but the Centre’s policy that was responsible for the spread of Coronavirus. “The sudden layoffs had left millions stranded. They have lost their jobs, their future was uncertain and there were no railways or other means of transportation for travel, in such times many labourers died.”

The central government is not ready to provide the figures. Shiv Sena spokesperson Dr. Kayande alleged that the central government is behaving very cruelly by hiding these figures.

She said that in fact Prime Minister Modi is responsible as the guardian figure of the central government. Meanwhile, PM Modi tried to shift the responsibility of spreading Coronavirus on the Maharashtra government and migrant workers. Maharashtra will never tolerate this allegation, warned Dr. Kayande.

She said that the sudden lockdown imposed by PM Modi had brought starvation upon the workers. At that time, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had arranged food, transport and accommodation for the workers. During the two months of May and June 2020, Rs. 67 crores and later more than Rs 100 crore aid was disbursed. Maharashtra could show this humanity, but the Centre could not show it, remarked Dr. Kayande.

The central government took the initiative to start Shramik trains and the government sent workers from many districts of Maharashtra to the villages safely at its own expense, clarified Dr. Kayande.

She said that most Shramik trains were released from Gujarat at that time. Then, in fact, Gujarat should be held more responsible for the spread of Coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. However, Prime Minister Modi should not have come out of the Chief Minister of Gujarat mode as yet, that is why he is giving different justice to Gujarat and different justice to Maharashtra, said Dr. Kayande.

Dr. Manisha Kayande has also criticized the BJP leaders of the state for remaining silent while Maharashtra is being defamed.

“Why are the (Vichitra, read Chitra Wagh)) ‘weird’ tigers of BJP who speak out of turn, Shelar Mama (read Ashish Shelar), leaders who are not (read Pravin Darekar) ‘proficient’ in anything silent today?” remarked Dr. Kayande.
