Mumbai, Maharashtra – Mumbai, the city of dreams, came alive with vibrant celebrations as Mumbaikars welcomed Lord Ganesha on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi today. Devotees across the city ushered in the beloved elephant-headed deity, Ganpati, into their homes with grandeur and devotion, marking the beginning of a ten-day-long festival.
As the fervor surrounding Ganesh Chaturthi builds to its zenith, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken proactive steps to ensure a smooth and environmentally conscious immersion process. The BMC has released an extensive list of ward-wise designated immersion spots, strategically located throughout the city.
The allocation of specific immersion points in each ward serves multiple purposes. Firstly, it streamlines the immersion process, ensuring that the procession of Ganpati idols proceeds efficiently and without disruptions. Secondly, it helps in reducing traffic congestion on Mumbai’s bustling streets, which is often a challenge during the festival. Most importantly, the BMC’s initiative aims to minimize the environmental impact of the immersion by directing it towards designated spots equipped to handle the disposal of idols in an eco-friendly manner.
