Mumbai Court Grants Bail to Yusuf Pathan’s Father-in-Law in Byculla Assault Case

A sessions court in Mumbai has granted bail to Khalid Khan, the father-in-law of former cricketer and Yusuf Pathan, in connection with an assault case reported from the Byculla area.

Court Observations on Bail
While allowing bail, the court noted that Khalid Khan was not directly involved at the start of the altercation. It also observed that no further custodial interrogation or recovery was required from him. The injured complainant in the case has already been discharged from hospital, which was also taken into account during the hearing.

Dispute Escalated Into Violence
The case stems from an incident earlier this month when a minor argument reportedly broke out after water splashed from a passing vehicle onto pedestrians. According to the complaint, the disagreement quickly intensified into a physical confrontation.

Allegations Against Family Members
The complainant alleged that he was initially attacked by a relative of Khan during the dispute. He further claimed that when he attempted to approach the police, additional family members joined in and assaulted him using sticks and other objects, resulting in injuries to him and a relative.

Cross Complaints Filed
Police have registered cases from both sides, indicating conflicting versions of the incident. Officials confirmed that multiple individuals were named in the case, with some taken into custody while another accused remains untraceable.

CCTV Footage Under Review
Investigators have examined CCTV footage from the locality as part of the probe. The accused were earlier produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody before the latest bail order.

Investigation Continues
Authorities said the inquiry is ongoing, and further action will depend on evidence gathered during the course of the investigation.
